Way of St. James by Padron

Santiaguiño do Monte

Santiaguiño do Monte

An Early Christian church (3rd C.) identified by the Jacobean tradition as the place in which the Aposte preached.

There are two ways of reaching the Santiago do Monte de Padrón recreational area. The first way is on foot, climbing the 132 stairs that start very close to the Convent of O Carme, and the second by car, taking the AC-299 road towards Rois and turning off to the left about 300 metres from Santiago Bridge.

There we will find a matchless setting for resting or leisure, featuring an area equipped with tables, barbecues, fountains, children’s playground, ideal for enjoying with family and friends.

There is also an archaeological site that might date from the Iron Age (3rd c. BC), which is traditionally identified as one of the holy places where the Apostle James preached in the Iberian Peninsula, around the year AD 40.
